Oral cancer screenings are a very important part of the dental visit for our patients and it is included at no charge at all your recall appointments.Like many kinds of cancer, oral cancer can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated early.
The most common signs and symptoms of oral cancer are the following;
A lip or mouth sore that does not heal and/or bleeds.
A white or reddish patch that does not heal.
A growth or lump inside your mouth.
Swollen lymph nodes on your neck.
Pain tenderness or numbness in your mouth or on your cheeks.
Difficulty speaking, chewing and swallowing or moving the jaw and tongue.

Certain lifestyle choices can have a great impact on the health of tissues and your overall health in the mouth. If you are a smoker or heavy drinker, make sure to get regular screenings when you visit the dentist or better still consider quitting.
